I put in 2 online delivery orders from this location. One for my elderly mother to be delivered between 10-11AM. Received hers a little after 11:31AM because the driver was delayed. I live in Federal Hill so I completely understood. The other order was for myself, paid for the "fastest" delivery time between 12pm-2pm. Whoever was shopping for my items didn't start until after 1PM and didn't finish until 2:36PM. Causing concern for me because frozen/refrigerated items were part of the order. Didn't get my order until almost 4pm and one of the cheap paper bags tore apart and the diced onions I ordered fell out because the bags were wet from the food perspiring. The delivery girl was sweet and she kept apologizing for the bags even though it wasn't her fault. Don't label it as the fastest delivery time when; people still receive their orders late, our food is not kept in insulated bags to keep items cold/fresh (like ALDI does) and we don't receive compensation for late deliveries. I paid over $40 for 2 separate delivery fees. I'll be ordering my groceries elsewhere.

On June 2, 2026, around 8:30 PM, I visited the Safeway Western Union service to send money to my family. I was sending $1,500 to one family member and $1,500 to another, something I have successfully done at other locations before without any issues. During my visit, I did not have a positive experience with the staff member assisting me. The interaction felt a bit unprofessional, and my situation was not clearly explained or properly addressed. My transaction was ultimately not completed, which was disappointing. I understand that employees must follow company policies and procedures. However, I believe customers should still be treated with respect and clear communication. I hope this feedback helps improve customer service in the future.

Downhill. It’s more expensive and likely to cover the gate that barely functions up front. A cashier ignored my coupon by falsely claiming it was for an item on sale and couldn’t be used. WRONG. It was the companies coupon and they reimburse the store. I doubt she would even be the one mailing them in. No more Russian black bread. Even us country bumpkins will notice a lack of scrapple. They also change the aisles almost weekly now. I don’t see the purpose other than holding customers up.

Disappointing Experience at Safeway I’ve been to this Safeway location more than a few times and honestly, every visit reminds me why I try to avoid it. The store feels dirty and run down. The shelves are dusty, the floors are sticky, and the restroom smells awful. I get that it’s an older store, but some things just shouldn’t be like this. The lines are almost always long. Usually only one or two registers are open during busy times, so everyone just ends up at self checkout if they don’t want to wait forever. The staff can be frustrating too. They are excessively rude, unavailable, glued to their phones, or just not interested in helping. Asking a question is treated like an annoyance for them. If the service were better, I might overlook some of the other problems but that’s not the case here. I’ve seen similar complaints here and on Yelp especially from other shoppers, and it seems like not much has changed. If you’re thinking of coming here, just know what you might be in for

I go here about 1-2 times a week, but my last experience left a really bad taste in my mouth. I might switch to Harris teeter if this continues. Every time I go, there's usually only 1 or 2 staffed checkout lanes, with them expecting most people to do self-checkout. A quick search here shows 34 other reviews here that mention this issue, and Safeway always responds as if they're going to change their behavior. Which is hilarious, because yesterday I went and there were NO lanes open besides self-checkout. I don't want to use self check out, I dang near left my cart right there for y'all to clean up, but then realized the store manager would likely just make some worker do the cleanup, and the worker isn't the person I'm mad at here. I watched an elderly lady in a wheelchair check every aisle trying to find an open lane, looking stressed as she realized she had to do self checkout, which is not very handicapped accessible, nor is it something our elderly neighbors want to be doing. Safeway, don't bother responding to this one. You have no intent on having human workers any longer than you need to. It's cheaper to automate it. Just keep that in mind when your job gets automated too. -----EDIT----- I told Safeway not to respond to this, as their responses to these are always the same version of "we'll take this into consideration." Given that they didn't respect my wishes here, I'm dropping this review from 3 to 2 stars.
