This store is unique. A little sketchy area, but pretty clean inside. A few of the cashiers are very unfriendly, they kind of have a little attitude. Clean bakery . Clean meat department. But there is one thing you need to look out for, expired packaged food. I've had my share with buying unexpected expired food here and today it happened again, I guess I need to be more careful. I bought this today , it's March 4th 2026.

Okay this is a bit long sorry! I like their large size..this to me means more selection. Who doesn't love that? I also like to see their employees out on the floor..a vegi guy stocking the organics or the butcher laying down fresh cuts right in front of me..the bakery folks walking their cakes to the display case etc this means they can answer relevant questions and they are all consistently friendly, super smiley, and helpful. Tip If you go early in the am you will be able to take advantage of all the managers specially priced items ( those items that are reduced for quick sale and meant to be consumed in the next day or two) which to me is perfect especially because their prices for these items are drastically reduced for a real discount ..not like the other markets that say an item is on sale and then you realize they mark the normal price 3 times higher so it seems as if you are getting a good deal. They dont fool me. I avoid those stores now altogether. I use a few grocery stores to get the best deals and it requires a Lil extra traveling and multiple stops before my trip is complete and food for less is definitely on my regular visit list. The bulk pricing also is hard to beat. One last note..I found a cell phone amongst the refrigerated bacon choices this am and I held the phone up in the air looking for someone frantic and searching..unfortunately i just met eyes with everyone near me ..they probaly thought i was nutz ( no dialog just pantemine) and oddly this moment I didn't see any employees only venders, so I abandon my cart and walked all the way to check out and found a cashier..having stepped away from her register, she was frantic grabbing something for a customer. I lunged at her to give her the phone before she escaped and at first she was irritated (you know why) then she said oh sorry you found a phone thanks! Grabbed it and left . The point being she she was able to process my request while frantic if a Lil annoyed she clearly did not have time to talk about my neighbors son who just got his hard- earned- long- time- invested- election to be a judge, you know , but she made the distinction grabbed the phone thus implementing my request as a priority taking action and saying sorry I almost ignored you.. and granting me relief of responsibility for the phone. Does that make sense? At any rate she did this naturally and this is an important part of her job. Boss knows a good one when he hires them. Good instinct boss man! Love this store. Always clean, has clean bathrooms, ample parking , has a guard at the store front to control some of the homeless who tend to hang out at the door..you know..and the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because they only offer paper bags now and they dont open easily they rip easily and there's no handles. I really struggled this am packing my paper bags . I had a large order . I could not move fast enough. I over packed the bags and had major turmoil getting them into the car, then once home I had a few blocks to walk then two flights of stairs. And ill be frank the marinara in glass jars -all 3 of them -1 dropped and broke in the parking lot along with the other items .. rolling away.. and the remaining two -broken and spilled on my street right along with my sour cream (not in glass but the lid popped from pressure and went everywhere inside bag and out .the bag split ..Big messy cleanup. No back up way to carry the rest of the items home That was very ruff and a waste of money and time and if I had had handles I could have managed . Have since forever til now. Still love that store regardless.

There were no disclaimers or conditions indicating otherwise. However, when I checked out at the register, I was charged the full price of $31.88, matching the original non-sale price. When I raised this issue with the staff, there was no proper explanation, no refund of the price difference, and not even an apology for the discrepancy. This behavior constitutes false advertising, which is illegal under California consumer protection laws. Retailers are prohibited from displaying misleading prices that deceive customers into making purchases at higher-than-advertised costs. I have kept photographic evidence of the product, the sale price sign, and the receipt. I plan to file a formal complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs regarding this violation. This is a serious consumer rights issue. I strongly urge shoppers to check their receipts carefully if purchasing sale items here, and to report any similar incidents to the appropriate authorities.

Do not go to this store Food 4 Less in Long Beach on Anaheim St. Horrible cashier. They have attitude toward the customer. The cashier charged me 3 bags and gave me 1 bag. I asked for the 2 bags, she starting giving me the attitude. I asked for the manager, the manager Christina also have the attitude. Folks do not shop here. Take your money to Ralph and other store.

The lack of professionalism displayed by Supervisor Christina L yesterday was deplorable. She demonstrated everything I would have corrected "in-the-moment" if anyone who represented the Corporate Company and the Store under my Management. I was staggered at the sheer impudence of her behavior at the register in fro front of the customers in her line. She displayed the utmost disrespect by throwing my bag at me and down the conveyor belt when I asked for it while she waiting on a price check. She went back and forth on the radio to a Colleague about a girl who called off from work. The look on her face and body language clearly was not aligned with any Corporate policy. Food-For-Less should be appalled and embarrassed to have positioned her in a Management role.
