Very cute grocery store, lots of options for fresh produce and great prices. Not as many options for processed or prepackaged foods. Prices were very reasonable, they also hard a large selection of alcohol so truly a one stop shop!

I came to food city on mother's day. I wanted to buy some chocolate covered strawberries for my mom. I sometimes buy them for myself and my daughter. I usually prefer to pick the larger ones. I can tell that the girl behind the counter gets annoyed with me when i tell her which ones I want. So, on mother's day, I wanted 8. I even requested them in spanish since i knew that she spoke little english. I was very polite in the beginning. She instantly began just grabbing small strawberries. I tried pointing out the ones i wanted but she tried to ignore me. I told her again that I didn't want those. She rolled her eyes and called over another young lady to translate. The young lady shrugged her shoulders and seemed to not want to repeat what she said. She then called over a guy to translate for her. At this point, I caught on to what she was saying. So I asked her, "So, I can't pick my own strawberries?" She said no and that I have to take what she gives me. At this point, i had it with her attitude. I admit, i did yell at her because im tired of her being rude to me when i come in there. I feel like she has poor customer service skills and I deserve to be respected. We walked away and went to the front to request to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, the manager lacked customer service skills as well. She offered no apology, and did not comment on the young lady's attitude towards me. Nor, did she confirm that it's their policy that customer's can't pick their own strawberries. All she did was showed us a fridge that already had packs of 4 strawberries in them for $8. We told her that the strawberries in the back were a dollar and some change each. She insisted that they were $2 each. They're not but we basically gave up talking to her because it was clear that she had no intention or competency to properly resolve customer service issues. My entire issue is 1. I understand that some people are unable to speak english but that still shouldn't prevent them from being polite and providing customers with respectful customer service. 2. So what if I wanted the bigger strawberries. What does it really matter? Isn't the point on making them is to sell them anyways? If we can pick the cupcake or cheesecake slice we want then what's the problem with us picking the strawberries we want? 3. The young lady was being petty and rude. I get that it may annoy her that I prefer to pick my own strawberries but what's the problem with just politely giving me what I asked for and sending me on my way? In customer service, you have to learn to pick and choose your battles with customers, and this one was so very unnecessary. 4. The manager needs to be trained in conflict resolution. She was no help to us at all.

The 80s are alive in Bashas'. Good riddance that these are all closing. High prices and disgusting interiors that look to have never been updated. Most Bashas' look like this so no wonder the company is going out of business besides their high prices?

This store used to be a Bashes. It is now remodeled to be a Food City. If you are used to the East and France know that it has now been moved to the West most side of this store. The exit for this store is now in the middle of the building. I found the location to be really good. There are 2 nearby pharmacies that you can get your items if this store does not have what you're looking for. The deli and bakery have some very unique and fun items you can also sit down and enjoy your afternoon there in their eating area. I was also able to find very unique plants as gifts in the florist department. The only thing I did not like about the remodel is that they have polished the cement floor to a very shiny finish and I am always scared about slipping and falling on it. The bathrooms are clean. I love the tile on the wall. I like that each tell has a hook to hang your purse so you don't have to put it on the floor.

It infuriates me that when you want to go to the bathroom, you can't ask an employee for the door code! You have to walk back across the ENTIRE store to the customer service desk, where they page another employee to meet you ALLL the way back across the store to unlock it for you. All I wanted to do was rinse my hands off because they were sticky from eating one of their pastries. So I asked someone at the deli (which is right next to the bathroom) for the code. That's when she told me that I would have to walk back and forth 3 more times. So, I saw a sink behind the counter of the deli that was probably only for employees, and I rinsed my hands off there. Absolutely RIDICULOUS!
